Updated resource on pregnancy and work

The Commission has recently updated its resource for pregnant women, Pregnancy and work: Know your rights and obligations. This booklet provides information on rights in the workplace during pregnancy, parental leave options and tips on returning to work.

In addition to details about how to make a complaint if someone has been discriminated against, it contains several sample letters to help women apply for parental leave and flexible work arrangements when they return from leave.

To help spread the word, we have sent copies of Pregnancy and work and our brochures on pregnancy and breastfeeding discrimination and parental and carer status discrimination to all local government Maternal and Child Health Centres in Victoria to share with new parent groups.

Please contact us to order hard copies of the booklet, or posters and brochures to promote it.

The Commission also has a resource for employers, the Pregnancy and work section in the Right Smart Employers Toolkit, which contains information on obligations under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, along with downloadable tools and policy templates.

If you have any questions about discrimination or the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, call our Enquiry Line on 1300 292 153.
