Submission to the Australian Human Rights Commission Consultation: Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Rights

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission has provided a submission to a national consultation exploring key rights issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people in Australia.

The Australian Human Rights Commission’s Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity & Intersex Rights (SOGII) consultation is currently inviting submissions from LGBTI groups, organisations, individuals and advocates across the country.

The consultation aims to guide the priorities of the Commission over the coming four years in the area of LGBTI rights.

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission has prepared a submission outlining:

  • the recommended changes to state law to address barriers to equality for LGBTI people
  • issues raised by the community about current policies and practices
  • key work achieved in the last two years.
