Commission welcomes equality measures in Victoria Police EBA

The Commission welcomes measures outlined in the in-principle Victoria Police enterprise bargaining agreement, which are an important step towards implementing recommendations identified in the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission report on tackling sex discrimination, sexual harassment and predatory behaviour.

The measures include a statement of intent about gender equity and diversity; family violence and IVF leave; and an emphasis on the options for flexible work arrangements.

Service improvements negotiated in the agreement will pave the way for major changes in the way that Victoria Police manages its workforce to meet the challenges of modern policing.

The agreement reflects the commitment of Victoria Police to work towards fostering an inclusive and respectful culture within the organisation, creating a workplace that is safe and supportive for all employees and where women in particular are valued and can thrive.
