Commission to undertake equity and diversity review within CFA and MFB

The Commission welcomes the Victorian Government’s request to undertake a review under section 151 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 and section 41(c) of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 within the Country Fire Authority and the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board.

The Review will look at equity and diversity within these organisations. The final Terms of Reference and methodology of the Review are yet to be finalised.

We look forward to a positive and rewarding journey with the organisations. Our expertise is in helping workplaces improve their equity and diversity and we know better services are delivered by organisations who are compliant with equal opportunity and human rights laws.

The Commission considers this an important step forward for emergency services in the wake of the Independent Review into sex discrimination and sexual harassment, including predatory behaviour, within Victoria Police.
