Cultural rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples recognised in new laws

The ACT Government has passed new laws which acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold distinct cultural rights and must not be denied the right to maintain, protect and develop their culture. 

The Human Rights Amendment Bill 2015 also recognises their material and economic relationships with the land, waters and other resources.
