The Commission welcomes increased access to men’s behaviour change programs

The Commission welcomes today’s announcement to increase access to men’s behaviour change programs, which will help break the cycle of family violence in Victoria.

This will include funding support services for men with a history of family violence who are seeking help, as well as Victorian AIDS Council’s Gay Men’s Health Centre, which delivers services to the LGBTIQ community.

The Men’s Referral Service, which provides anonymous and confidential telephone counselling and referrals for men seeking help for violent and controlling behavior, will also receive a boost in funding.

The program will provide much needed support to agencies across Victoria that offer men’s group programs and men’s behaviour change programs and will also support professional training for men’s behaviour change program facilitators, helping to reduce waitlists.
