We stand with Orlando

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission sends a message of support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) communities in light of the Orlando gay club massacre on the weekend.

"We offer our message of support and stand with LGBTI communities and all affected by the weekend massacre at a gay club in Orlando, USA, Commissioner Kristen Hilton said.
"Violence and hatred have no place in our society. We all have the right to live safely and proudly and to be who we are.

"This tragedy is a painful reminder that the LGBTI communities the world over still face hate and discrimination," Ms Hilton said.

"We will continue to work on protecting and promoting human rights for all and firmly reject acts of hate such as this."

Anyone who experiences discrimination or hate on the basis of their sexual orientation can contact the Commission on 1300 292 153.
