Chairperson welcomes appointment to Commission Board

Chairperson of the Board Moana Weir has welcomed today's announcement by Attorney-General Martin Pakula of an appointment to the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission Board.

Ms Weir said she was delighted to welcome the new appointee, Ms Jennifer Huppert, to the Board. Ms Huppert brings a wealth of expertise to the position with nearly 30 years' experience, practising largely in the area of commercial property, and is currently a special counsel at KHQ Lawyers.

Ms Huppert has a long involvement with the community and not-for-profit sector. She is currently president of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria, and has previously served on the Boards of the B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Commission, Youth Connect and the National Council of Jewish Women of Australia.

From February 2009 until November 2010 Jennifer was a member of the Legislative Council of the Parliament of Victoria, and prior to that served as a director of the Emergency Services and State Superannuation Board.

"Ms Huppert's appointment is a fantastic addition to the Board and, on behalf of the Commission, I look forward to working with Jennifer to achieve the Commission's vision of a community where all people are treated with dignity and respect, and have equal access to opportunity," said Ms Weir.
