Rights of older people

The Commission believes that the voices of older people are not adequately heard in major discussions about human rights. As part of an ongoing project, we wanted to hear what you think needs to be done to protect the basic human rights of older people in Victoria.

In 2011, we held a Forum on the Rights of Older People at Ethiad Stadium. More than 100 gathered to hear a speech by Federal Age Discrimination Commissioner, the Hon Susan Ryan AO, and to share their experiences regarding the rights of older people in Victoria. The Commission also received feedback on the rights of older people through an online survey and discussion forum.

Information gathered through the forum, online survey and discussion forum is available in a report on how the rights of older people are protected in Victoria.
