Transgender Victoria and YGender have joined forces to launch the 'What Makes an Ally?' youth project, created to foster healthy relationships between trans and gender diverse young people and their allies.

The Commission welcomes the amendment passed last night by the Parliament of Victoria with bipartisan support. These amendments to the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 prohibit discrimination on the basis of ‘expunged homosexual conviction’.

Celebrate Bisexuality Day

Today, 23 September, is an international day for the bisexual community, their friends and supporters. 

Commission staff donned their brightest purples today in support of Wear it Purple Day.

The AIDS 2014 conference is an inspiring reminder of how far things have come in the last 30 years. We should all be proud to be hosting such a significant event in Melbourne this week. The images of many dedicated professionals and community members working together to address HIV and AIDS on the world stage presents a picture of an almost overwhelming task - and yet they are making a difference. The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission and Football Federation Victoria have thrown their support behind this year's Pride Football Australia tournament to show there is no place for homophobia in football.

 Acting Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner Karen Toohey has called on all Victorians to band together to stamp out all forms of homophobia, discrimination and harassment this IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia).

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission will join in Victoria's celebration of queer culture by putting its support behind the community during the annual Midsumma Festival.
