The Chairperson of the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission Board Ms Moana Weir welcomes today's announcement by Attorney General Martin Pakula of the appointment of Laurinda Gardner and Faddy Zouky to the Commission's Board.

Ms Weir also acknowledged the valuable contribution made to the Commission by outgoing Board Members Colleen Pearce and Josef Szwarc.

"I am delighted to welcome the two new appointees to the board," Ms Weir said.

"I look forward to working with Laurinda Gardner and Faddy Zouky to achieve the Commission's vision of a community where every person is treated with dignity and respect.

"Ms Gardner's decades of experience within the public sector and working for social change will be invaluable for the Commission as it begins implementing its new strategic plan.

"Mr Zouky's diverse experience in law and business and his championing of a thriving multicultural Australia will undoubtedly benefit the Commission in its work fostering inclusive and accepting communities throughout the state.

"I would also like to acknowledge and thank outgoing Board Members Colleen Pearce and Josef Szwarc for their years of dedicated service to the Commission and their work promoting and protecting human rights and equal opportunity throughout Victoria."
