Racist posters not who we are: Commissioner

Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner Kristen Hilton today condemned the racist posters stuck around Melbourne schools, which a white supremacist group has claimed responsibility for.

"This is not who we are. There is no place for racism in Victoria," Commissioner Hilton said.

"These awful posters do not belong at a school or anywhere in our society.

"It is particularly cowardly of this white supremacist group to target children at our schools.

"Our thriving, diverse community is what makes Victoria such a great place to live. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and part of our community.

"I am proud to live in a state where the community stands up against those trying to spread fear, hate and division.

"If you feel you have been discriminated against because of your race, get in touch with the Commission on 1300 292 153 or or find out more about making an enquiry or complaint."
