Report on the operation of the Charter released

The 2015 report on the operation of Victoria’s Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities was tabled on 11 October 2016. It examines the use of the Charter in Victorian courts and tribunals, in parliament, by government and in the community in 2015. 

Each year, the Victorian Honour Roll celebrates 20 exceptional women who have made a significant and lasting contribution to their local community, the nation or the world.

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission commends the Victorian Government on further cementing the state as a leader on human rights protections, through its support for many of the recommendations made to the Eight Year Review of the Charter of Human Rights.

Children in out-of-home care are being supported to get the best out of their education with the launch of the new LOOKOUT Education Support Centre. 

This month we celebrate National Youth Week, acknowledging the contributions young people make to our communities. 

Cultural Diversity Week kicked off on Saturday 12 March 2016 with a full program of activities and experiences for all Victorians. Everyone's invited to join in the fun, and in the conversation online with #StandInHarmony. 

The ACT Government has passed new laws which acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold distinct cultural rights and must not be denied the right to maintain, protect and develop their culture. 

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission welcomes the 2015 Review of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities, which was tabled today in Parliament.

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission congratulates more than 40 leaders from the City of Greater Bendigo who have issued a joint statement in support of the local Muslim community.

Fair go, sport! - Evaluation report launched

Yesterday, the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission proudly launched the evaluation of Phase One of the Fair go, Sport! project.  

The long awaited report of the Taxi Industry Inquiry tabled in Parliament today makes 139 recommendations to reform the taxi industry to improve the way taxis are licensed, operated and regulated.
